Colorful October

The fall colours have been spectacular this year. Dad and I just returned from a little drive out in the country near West Lynn and south and west of Tualitin. We are hoping to take our seniors out to see the fall leaves and for lunch. I hope the leaves last that long. We got a early start because of daylight savings and its a good thing because it is raining now.

I had our chimney swept early in the month and Dad is keeping me supplied with wood, so I am enjoying nice warm fires on the days when it is cool. Dad is also keeping busy gathering up the leaves and trimming and fixing up the yard for winter. I need to think of some jobs to keep him busy on the rainy days. He is happy when he is busy, keeps his mind off the stomach.

We have had a few seniors with problems, so have been busy making visits. I celebrated my birthday by going to the doc for my annual exam and mammogram. I had my flue shot and one for pneumonia, I guess I'm in the senior category now. Everything is fine except my cholesterol is getting high. I suppose I should go back and get the pills I need and take them. I'm always crabbing at Dad for not taking his pills, so I better set the example.

Madalyn Utz and I went down to the Aurora to the quilt festival. We have been reading some books by Jane Kirpatrick about the early settlers of Oregon. One series was about a communal colony in Aurora. Her books are very well written and very interesting. We had a fun day together.

All the girls on our temple shift were invited down to the beach for lunch and a sleep over. I went down for lunch and the after noon. We had a good visit, nice to talk to one another in normal voices. I was happy to come home because sleeping on the floor does not appeal to me any more.

Tami took me to a FARMS symposium, Jack Welch was there to speak,he gave us some interesting insights on the Sermon on the Mount. Thanks Tami for a great day.
We watched conference with Tami and family and of course celebrated Halloween with them. It is a bit more fun there, rather than staying at home to see if anyone will venture down our driveway let alone our street.

Dad and I took a drive out to Yamhill to see the early fall colours, It is always a treat to drive out in the country.

We spent a few days down at the beach, the weather was perfect, we enjoyed the warm weather. Dad and I took a walk on the beach and took a nap on the nice warm sand The McCaslines were there too so we enjoyed eating a meal or two together and took a hike up on the Cascade Head, there was no wind, it was perfect.
