This has been a busy and happy month. We were able to see and enjoy the company of most of the family.
We started off with a visit from Jeff and family. We scooted off to the beach to relax and have fun.
We hiked up to Munson falls and stopped at Tillamook for Ice cream
Since we were still hungry our next stop was at burger king.
The relaxing part was good.
While in Portland we took a trip down town to the famous Voo Doo donut shop.
The girls think down town Portland is weird and scary.
We loved having the South Jordan Riries here for a visit it was fun and we miss having you here.
The Monday after Jeff’s family left, we had a big garden party for the seniors. Next morning we boarded the
plane for New Jersey.
This was our last trip to 100 Shongum in Randolph. We will miss going there, Rob and family always show us
such a great time and there is so much to see in the East. I will miss all the trips to historic places. Rob and
Kim have emptied their house of any excess furniture and stuff, and are on their way to Scottsdale Arizona in a
few weeks. Brandon leaves this weekend for Arizona to start ASU. Good Luck Brandon.
While in Randolph we enjoyed playing some games, eating, relaxing on the deck and keeping company with the
family.
The high light was a trip to New York City to see the sights and to take in a show on Broadway.
Our first stop was the site of the twin towers and the new sky scrapers that are taking their place.
Chayce and Rob acted as our guides to beautiful churches, wall street, the UN, and finally to the top of the rock,
the Rockefeller center.
What a great view.
Brandon and Kim joined us for dinner at “The Counter” and then it was off to the show.
That is the show on times square, and the Broadway show “Evita” . I loved “Evita” Thanks Rob for making it
possible for us to see the show and all the excitement of New York City. Good luck in Arizona, and thanks for
making it easy for us to visit and enjoy the great states of New Jersey and New York.
Home again. Tami and the boys and myself loaded up the car and we set off for Canada. Our first stop was at
Flathead Lake. Brent and JoEllen took us in for a good nights sleep. We spent the morning with them, hiking
up the river and swimming in the pool.
Wednesday afternoon we drove up to Canada to stay with Aunt Joanne. Thursday we visited all the sights
in Magrath and Welling.
In the museum we found a few Ririe relics. The trophy belonged to Great Grandpa James Ririe.
Can you pick out Grandma Nellie and Grandpa Horace in the old photo?
This is great grandmother Elizabeth, and great grandfather James Ririe.
That afternoon we took in Waterton, Red Rock Canyon, Bear’s Hump, skipping rocks and of course the photo
shoot at Cameron Falls.
Friday we went to Cardston for the wedding.
Here is the happy couple and all the relations. Looks like we have added a little height to the family.
Jim has a bunch of adorable Grandkids.
Jim with his sisters The boys waiting ….
Tami and her cousins, Cheri and Liz all the girls.
The evening included a lovely dinner, entertainment and closed with a dance, the kids really had a great time.
With Anders at the wheel we followed Liz to her house in Calgary. She had beds all ready for us, after we toured
her darling house we settled gratefully into bed. The smell of a good breakfast greeted us in the morning. Liz
hustled us off to Heritage park where we spent a few hours seeing all the sights.
We visited the Mountys [this one looked awful young] an old trading post, a blacksmith shop and all kinds of
Canadian history places. Thanks Liz for showing us such a great time. Family is wonderful.
Sunday after church we left for home. Luckily Logan pass was open, the day was beautiful
Could you ask for a more perfect day.
A stop at Lake Mcdonald , made perfect with a Huckleberry ice cream cone.
On the road again to Richland Washington. The night was spent at Jeff Bake’s brother’s house. Monday we
drove the rest of the way home. Thank you Tami and Anders for helping to drive. I sure enjoyed making the
trip with you. I had a great time, hope you did too.
It is good to be back home, Dad had the house and yard all fixed up for a Daughters of Utah pioneers party.
Then Ellie and I had a day of sewing while she finished up her clothes for the pioneer trek. Check out the
bloomers
Monday we had an ice cream social for one of our seniors who is moving way. In the mean time our refrigerator
has stopped working. Hear the rest of the story in our August blog. Love to all of you
