September was a wonderful month, because we got to spend a lot of it with family.
We arrived in Utah on the 29th of August with Tami and Ellie ready to visit with our Ririe brothers, cousins and their families. Robin had a splendid reunion planned for us. Fortunately we arrived in time for the buffet dinner in Salt Lake and we began to get acquainted with every one.
Saturday we met for a barbeque and swim party at one of Robin’s friend’s house. Kevin and Becky fixed us a wonderful meal, more time was spent getting to know everyone; and having lots of fun in the swimming pool, and playing the games around the yard.
Saturday evening Jason and his wife Ashley provided an evening of fun and games at their condo game room and roof top. As usual when the family gets together we played cards and board games. Ashley sweetened us up with candy and Root beer floats. We adjourned to the roof top to see the view and soak in the hot tub.
Tami, Scot, and his new girl friend.
Some went for a soak in the hot tub and others enjoyed the view of of the city at night. Thanks Jason and Ashley for a fun evening.
Here are some of the Ririe boys. It doesn’t appear that we are breaking the spell of the Riries producing boys.
Sunday we gathered at Jordan Park for another picnic, hosted by Becky and Kevin. Becky is a great cook, I want her on my team the next time I entertain. Thanks for all the hard work Becky and Kevin. Time for family photos.

Yes we are. Austen and Alysha.
We are a happy family. How wonderful it is to hang out with your favorite people “Our family”.
I loved our Ririe family reunion, a special Thanks to Robin for organizing all the fun, to Ron for all his support, and to all those who pitched in to help.
Our attention turned to the big day when Elder Alex Ririe returned from the Texas Houston Mission.
The excitement was pretty high at the Jeff Ririe household.
The flags and yellow ribbons were out to welcome Alex home.
The Happy reunited family.
Patches was pretty excited to see his old friend.
Nice ride. Alex enjoying his old toys.
At Alex’s request we all traveled north to Odgen to the open house for the new Ogden Temple.
The face lift to the Temple is a great improvement. The Temple is lovely.
Grandpa and I took advantage of Alex’s driving skills and his time to take a few road trips. We loved being with him.
Alex took us for a drive up his favorite canyon, Butterfield canyon is west and a bit south of the big copper mine. We saw lovely views of the Salt Lake valley. If your in a hiking mood, there are lots of trails to take from here.
Grandpa and I have been wanting to finish up the Utah portion of the Mormon Pioneer Trail. Alex drove us back to Echo canyon and we followed the trail on into Salt Lake City.
We stopped and drove up to Croydon, my great great grandmother Ann Gibbons Probert lived here with her daughter, and was buried here. Unfortunately we didn’t find the grave yard. I It was a pleasant little valley.
In Henefer we stopped at Grumps for some picnic supplies and ate lunch in the local park. Then we drove on into Salt Lake.
This is the view the pioneers had of the mountains they still needed to pass before getting to their new home.
The new Provo tabernacle temple is slowly being restored. Joanne came into town and we spent the day in Provo visiting all the sites and going to the museums. Her grandson Trevor came with his wife and new baby to pick her up. Joanne is in town to say goodbye to Tia who is leaving on a mission to Virginia and for the baby blessing.
Sunday the family gathered to listen to Alex give his home coming talk. He did a great job. Jeff and Debbie prepared a delicious brunch for every one.
The party was over. We hurried on home to catch up with the work in the yard and to start to prepare for our next adventure.
The last bit of fun was at the Niki Invitational. This was huge, teams from all over the country and the world. It was held at the Portland Meadows, a horse racing complex. Ellie and Ian ran, you can see Ian’s medal. What hard work.
WE are now looking forward to our trip to the Black sea. Love you all.
Love Grandpa and Grandma
