dull January

Dear Family

After our wonderful Christmas holiday, January has been pretty dull.  The rain has been constant. our only entertainment has been watching  the bird feeders and doing a lot of reading, and taking naps.

We started looking for a house, so far anything we come close to liking is sold in a day or two.  I don’t think I am prepared to make such a quick decission.  Today we received notice that the city of Tigard has annexed our property so according to the timeline they sent us we have about 375 days left to find a new home.   Do you think we should panic? In the mean time I’m trying to get into the habit of cleaning out and throwing away, it is not my favourite job.

We did have one bright day of excitement and that was when we watched Ellie open her mission call.  I think she was pretty excited about going to The Dominican Republic.  You will do a super job there; we are excited for you Ellie.  Happy that you are going on a mission Ellie. You make  us very happy.

As you know Dad had a small skin cancer removed in December.   After that was healed up we started a treatment to remove a lot of precancerous spots from his face. He looks pretty awful, but we hope the results will leave him with a great new complextion.  He may look like a new born baby.  We will let you know how it turns out.

I guess its to late to remind all of you to stay out of the sun while you are young.  I exposed all of you to the California sun.

For those of you who remember her, Ruth Shupe died.  Dad and I were busy with her funeral.  We still love all our dear Seniors.  We still keep busy helping out when we can.

We were sad to hear that Shelby will not be there to greet us when we visit Rob and Kim’s house.  What a great family pet she was.

My new primary class consists of 4 six years olds, they are a little easier to  manage than the 7 four year olds I had last year.  Already the boys are ready to start showing off.  They give me lots of laughs.

Hey they say the sun is going to come out this weekend.  Look for some warmer pictures in February.  Jim, Arlene and Joanne are coming for a visit.

I read today.” A new study from OHSU shows people who regularly met in person with family and friends were less likely to report symptons of depression, compared with those who emailed or spoke on the phone…..  People who met up with family and friends at least 3 times a week had the lowest level of depressive symptoms.”    Better come see us.

We sure love all of you.

Love Mom and Dad.
