February Wet and Wild

I made a brave start in the garden this morning but it looks like March is going to be wet and wild too.  I worked bravely on, but when the water started to drip down my neck, it was time to come in.  We do get tired of the gray skies. Dad I even went so far as to venture into the travel store to look at some South Pacific destinations.  Samoa and Tahiti are looking pretty good right now.  However our cruise this fall down the Saint Lawrence will be our adventure for this year.  We are going this fall with Ron and Afton. We are looking forward to spending a few days with Keith and Nicole in Montreal and the surrounding country, before we start the tour.  Meanwhile we are looking for a sunny forecast, or hope that you folks in Arizona will send some sunshine our way.

Dad and I are a sorry pair.  Dad continues to suffer from his stomach pain and a multiple of other disorders.  His latest problem is numb fingers and toes. As for me I have arthritis in my hip and knee and the pain travels down my whole leg.  Dads nice warm fires help and lots of Advil.  In the mean time I seek comfort in food and that’s not helping my figure.  I just finished reading “Still Alice”  by Lisa Genova.  I didn’t like the book.  It tells the story of a girl diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease.  Too many of her problems sound too familiar to me.  In spite of not enjoying the book it is a good read, it is short and  keeps you turning the pages.

Time for a few changes.  I talked dad into taking down the Wild Cherry tree, it was blocking our view and took a lot of time every year to prune back.  The only loss is the tire swing, sorry for those who might still like to swing.   Dad spent most the month pruning all of the fruit trees and bushes.  The next chore was to send all the branches through the chipper. Ian came to the rescue and helped Grandpa with that work .

Ian turned twelve and we got to help him celebrate.  We are happy to have another handsome young man in our family.

Ellie helped me get everything set up for my Valentine Tea for all the senior Ladies.

The Rumps invited us to a musical program out in Canby, the program consisted of several Barbershop quartets.  It was fun and kept us entertained.

Please don’t let anyone know , but the kid in the warrior suit is Anders.  I don’t know if he intimidated the opposing team but his dancing is pretty good.  Anders goes to Aloha high school, the mascot is an Hawaiian warrior.

One of our former Seniors, who lived down in Waldport on the coast died.  We drove down to the funeral.  The day was wet and wild.  The ocean put on a good show for us.

We took Ruth she is 94 along with us.  She is an amazing little lady, I hope I am as chipper as she when I am that age.

Mary Jo Hamilton is moving to St George, Utah. We were invited out for Chinese food and a farewell party.

That’s February for us.

Love to all of you.    Mom and Dad
